Sharing is caring!

If you're anything like us then you LOVE spicy and you really enjoy salsa's. Salsa Verde or "Green Sauce" is a traditional kitchen sauce that has roots in Mexico. I had my very first taste of the Green Sauce while we lived in Albuquerque New Mexico and have been a huge fan every since. What I love about this sauce is the versatility of it, you can use it for not only as a dipping sauce for ships but in many other dishes that you'd love to add a zing to. The Simple recipe below can be modified to suit your needs, We use Jalapeno Peppers if you want more of a medium sauce you can substitute green peppers.  As always please feel free to leave your comments in the comment section below and please feel free to share this on all of your social media.

6 Jalapeno peppers
½ pound tomatillos, husked
1 clove garlic
½ cup chopped onion
⅓ cup chopped fresh cilantro
½ teaspoon salt

In a medium iron skillet over medium high heat, cook the Jalapeno peppers, stirring constantly, until dark brown. Do not allow peppers to burn. Remove from heat and set aside. Place tomatillos in a medium saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil. Cook 5 minutes, remove from heat and drain. Place Jalapeno peppers, tomatillos and garlic in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Transfer pepper mixture to a medium bowl. Mix in onion, cilantro and salt. Chill in the refrigerator until serving.
